A Message for teachers
This global learning project will stimulate student interest in reading through student-made book trailers, podcasts, and participating in online discussion forums about various novels that are of interest to them. Global collaboration is a necessity as students will discover the types of books that are popular from different parts of the world. Through this GLP, students discover that they can connect to students from different cultures through reading. Books cross all boundaries.
who are the participants?
This global learning project is designed for 7th and 8th grade students. Teachers have access to the site as they will need to inform students how to utilize the website. They may also use student work as part of their grade. The level of technology expertise varies depending upon the individual. This GLP is open to classrooms all over the world. There is no limit in terms of geographical location. Participants can connect with other participants through online forums and commenting
on participants’ work (book reviews, book trailers, podcasts). Participants need to be able to read and write English.
What is the timeline?
The GLP starts at the beginning of the 2013 - 2014 school year in August. Even though the project will be ongoing, new participants will be accepted at the beginning of each semester.
